
Stop Replacing Your Infrared Heaters Every Few Months
Let’s be honest: there is nothing more frustrating than a heating element burning out right when you need it most. Usually, it happens because a bit of moisture or some dust gets where it shouldn’t. That’s why we built our new replacement elements to be IP65 rated. In plain English? They’re dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting them from any direction.
Why moisture is a killer
Here is the problem. When a tiny drop of water hits a scorching hot quartz tube, it causes “thermal shock.” It sounds fancy, but it basically just means the glass gets micro-cracks. Once that seal is gone, air gets in, the tungsten filament oxidizes, and—snap. It’s that classic “pop and fail” cycle we see all the time in humid shops or industrial spaces. To stop this, we used sealed housings and specialized gaskets. We basically keep the element bone-dry so it can actually do its job.
How we actually built it
We didn’t just slap a cover on it. We used high-temp silicone seals and a reinforced case to make sure the IP65 rating actually holds up in the real world. We spent a lot of time on the connection points. That’s usually where the trouble starts. By tightening the tolerances around the terminal pins, we stopped vapor from sneaking in to corrode the leads or cause a short circuit. You just drop it in, and it handles the fog and splashes without breaking a sweat.
The trade-off (because nothing is perfect)
Now, there is one thing you should know. Since we wrapped the element in a protective enclosure, there’s a slight thermal barrier. You’ll notice it takes a few seconds longer to hit peak temperature than it would with an open-tube system. It’s a small lag, but you’ll want to keep it in mind when you’re timing your heating cycles. One last tip: give your seals a quick check every six months. Extreme heat can eventually wear down the gaskets. If they perish, the protection goes away and your element is back in the line of fire. Keep those seals tight, and your lamps will last way longer than the unprotected ones.
