What matters under the hood
We built the PC preform preheating infrared lamp as a direct-fit thermal module for blow molders, centered on short-wave infrared halogen emitters inside a quartz tube. The point is fast response and tight control, because the preform surface temperature has to climb quickly—and repeatably—before stretch blow molding. Output is matched to the heating tunnel’s typical power density, with standard voltage options and an R7s connector that lines up with the common lamp holders. The dimensions and mounting are spec’d to drop straight into the existing reflector path, no tunnel rework needed.
Why this approach holds up in stretch blow molding
In stretch blow molding, the preform has to land in a narrow temperature window so biaxial stretching stays consistent. With this lamp, you get faster warm-up and tighter temperature stability across the preform body, so the blow molder can run at the designed cycle without overheating or under-softening. That means fewer rejects from stress whitening and wall-thickness drift, and more predictable energy use. When it’s time to replace the lamp, the form factor and electrical interface match OEM-style specs, so you can swap it with less changeover and fewer tuning steps.
The practical details that keep it running
Infrared heating is line-of-sight. Keep the quartz tube clean, make sure the reflectors are aligned, and confirm your preform geometry and line speed match the emitter’s dwell profile. The lamp runs hot—verify clearance, airflow, and thermal shielding around the heating zone. If you’re running high-cavity counts or long hours, schedule output checks against your temperature sensors. That way you catch end-of-life early and avoid unplanned downtime.
