
Stop Overpaying for Krones Contiform Parts

When your lamps burn out too quickly or the heat starts hitting unevenly, your preforms warp. It’s frustrating, it creates waste, and it slows everything down. The reality of high-density heat
Krones systems use shortwave infrared radiation to soften those PET preforms. It has to be precise. Most of these lamps run at high voltages to cram as much wattage as possible into a tiny space. You’re basically trying to hit a target temperature in a matter of milliseconds. To keep cycle times fast, you need massive heat density. But there’s a catch. That kind of heat puts a ton of stress on the quartz envelope. If the lamp isn’t built to handle that expansion and contraction, it’s going to crack. Simple as that.
Better glass, better connections
We use heavy-wall quartz glass because it actually lasts. Plus, many of our lamps have specialized coatings that bounce the heat back toward the preform instead of letting it leak out. It’s a smarter way to use energy. But here’s the thing: most lamps don’t fail in the middle. They fail at the connection point. We use standard R7s or Sk15 bases so you can just wire them in and get back to work. No modifications needed. We keep the tolerances tight because a loose fit leads to arcing, and arcing fries the end of your lamp.
Making it work on your shop floor
These are direct replacements. You won’t need to spend your whole afternoon recalibrating the oven timing. One quick tip, though. If you switch to a higher-output lamp, keep an eye on your blower’s cooling settings. You don’t want to overheat the housing. Just match your lamp specs to your preform weight, and your scrap rate should stay nice and low.
