To make that happen, you have to stop relying on just blowing hot air around and start using shortwave infrared (SWIR). In the kitchen, we do this with high-wattage halogen bulbs. Now, these aren’t the kind of bulbs you’d put in your living room lamp. They’re basically precision heat-beasts designed to slam a huge amount of energy into the dough the second it hits the belt. The secret is in how the heat moves. Traditional ovens take forever because they have to heat the air first. Shortwave infrared doesn’t bother with the middleman. It skips the air and hits the toppings and the crust directly. You get that perfect char and a quick rise without waiting for the whole oven cavity to soak in the heat. It’s fast. Really fast. The gear behind the heat We make these replacement bulbs out of high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because these things go through a brutal cycle—blasting heat, then shutting off, then blasting again. Regular glass would just shatter. Quartz handles that thermal shock like a pro. Most of our units use R7s or SK15 connectors, so they usually just slide right into most industrial conveyor ovens. No fuss. If you look closely, you’ll see the tungsten filament is wrapped in a halogen gas mixture. It’s a clever little trick that keeps the filament from evaporating too quickly, so the bulb actually lasts, even while it’s running white-hot. A quick word of caution Here’s the thing: these tubes pull a lot of power. If you’re upgrading an old, slower oven to a 90-second cycle, please check your wiring and sockets. If your hardware isn’t rated for this kind of wattage, things will literally melt. Also, make sure your ventilation is up to the task.
