Here is a reality check: when you’re picking a heater for a bathroom or a steamy outdoor spot, an IP65 rating isn’t the whole story. That rating just tells you the box is sealed. It doesn’t tell you what happens when a stray drop of cold water hits a heating element that’s glowing at several hundred degrees. With regular glass, that’s a recipe for disaster. It shatters. Instantly.
The deal with quartz and “thermal shock”

If you’re cramming a lot of wattage into a small garden or bath heater, things get incredibly hot. If your junction boxes aren’t rated for that kind of heat, your insulation will eventually just melt. Not a good look.
A few things to keep in mind
The best part about quartz infrared lamps? They’re instant. You flip the switch and you feel the heat immediately. No waiting around for a coil to warm up. But there is a catch. Because the surface gets so hot, you can’t just tuck these units anywhere. Keep them away from plastic fixtures or anything that might catch fire. If you mount them too low, you’re going to scorch your walls or ceiling. Just find that sweet spot with the mounting height. You want the room to feel cozy and warm without creating any dangerous hot spots.
