You need the PET preforms to hit that perfect blowing temperature, but you can’t just blast them with heat or you’ll scorch the surface. It’s a balancing act. That’s why we build our replacement lamps the way we do. We focus on short-wave infrared (IR) because it doesn’t just sit on the surface—it actually punches through the plastic wall to heat the preform from the inside out. The secret is in the density. When your preforms are flying through the oven at top speed, you don’t have time to be gentle. You need a massive, immediate hit of energy. We spec our lamps with high wattage and voltage to make sure that happens.
