If you’re running SIG Blomax or Krones Contiform S lines, you know the headache. One minute everything is humming along, and the next, a tube snaps. It’s usually a mix of thermal shock and those constant high-speed vibrations that just wear the glass down. We got tired of seeing it happen, so we rebuilt our Replacement lamps to actually hold up. The heat is the enemy. To get a preform to that perfect glass transition temperature, you need a lot of power. But that kind of heat puts a massive strain on the quartz envelope. Most lamps start to bow or warp under that pressure. We fixed that by using a heavy-wall quartz build. It’s tougher. It stays straight. Just a heads-up, though: make sure your power supply is steady. If you’ve got voltage spikes hitting your system, they’ll fry the filament no matter how strong the glass is. No fuss, just a better fit. We ditched the thin-wall glass for a modified quartz that can handle rapid heating and cooling cycles without cracking. The best part? They’re a direct swap. You just pop them in. No rewiring, no messing around with the oven footprint, and no complicated setup. The connectors are tight, too, so you don’t have to worry about arcing at the contact points. What this means for your shift. Less time spent replacing “blown” tubes means more time actually producing bottles. It kills that frustrating cycle of stopping the line, swapping a lamp, and restarting everything. One small thing to watch for: because the walls are thicker, the infrared light moves through them a bit differently. You might need to tweak your heating timers by a few milliseconds to get your heat profile exactly where you want it. It’s a simple trade-off. You give up a tiny bit of light transmission, and in exchange, your lamps actually last. Your sanity will thank you.
